At first glance, my eyes focus on the main subject on the centre of the piece which is the girl sitting on a wooden rocking chair. Her expression then sinks in as though her mind is altogether somewhere else. This feel of 'daydreaming' is enhanced further with the surrounding objects around the subject.

My focus is then diverted to all these other objects. The 'daydreaming' feel is taken to a higher level as I notice all these random objects such as suitcases, a cockoo clock, a pair of shoes etc. Having all these elements together is quite an odd thought, but the use of colours has integrated harmony. The use of browns and yellow ochre is quite exceptional. All the objects blend together in regards to colour and yet each element has managed to have its own identity without 'getting lost' in the painting.

The technique used painting is also brilliant. There is a sketchy and old feel to the painting which is very vintage and memorable just like an old photograph. Detail is also focused on the girl's face and hair which I believe is the reason why she stands out in the picture amongst everything around her.

Overall, I love it! :)
